Main Benefits of Pile Foundations

Pile foundations provide a number of applications across both residential and commercial building projects. Here is a list of the main benefits of pile foundations and the opportunities they offer compared to other piling methods.

Unbeatable Strength

The piles used by Pile Vic are stronger than traditional screw-pile alternatives. Traditional grade screw piles can break at 5600Nm, the piles we use are manufactured from a higher grade steel to result in a torsional capacity of up to 11,000Nm.

Higher Compression and Tension Load Capacity

The pile’s design allows the pile to narrowly drill into the ground. This means that the surrounding soil disturbance is kept to a minimum which significantly improves compression and tension load capacities. Load capacity is immediate, meaning the piles can be loaded immediately after installation.

Improved Positioning and Vertical Accuracy

Pile Vic source piles that suit the specific application. If exact positioning and vertical accuracy is of critical importance, Pile Vic use Blade Piles which feature twin blades which improve the balance and vertical accuracy of the piles during the installation process.

Faster & Safer Installation

With the piles being driven straight into the ground, there is no time wasted on-site compared to using other piling methods. For the average residential house, piles can be installed in a day, allowing construction to continue without delay. Also because steel piling produces no excess soil, this soil does not need to be removed from site, allowing the next trade in the process to immediately start onsite once the piles are complete.

Cost-Effective Solution

Piles provide a fixed cost solution for foundations with poor soil. Alternatives such as bored piers attract additional costs from building inspectors and soil removal fees as well as the potential for time delays, which can also inflate building costs.

Reduced Environmental Impact

As mentioned above, screwing the piles into the ground means there is no soil disturbance, this is especially important when dealing with contaminated soils. Once the building has exceeded its lifespan and is demolished, the piles can also be removed and recycled. Displacement piles are common when there are Tree Protection Zones and excavation of the soil is prohibited.

With these things in mind, there is no doubt that the benefits of pile foundations offer the most durable, safest, most cost-effective and environmentally friendly option for foundation piling.
